Thomas L. Maschmeyer, Jr.

Mr. Maschmeyer is a member in the firm of Griffin, Clift, Everton & Maschmeyer, PLLC. He has given lectures to peers on various Estate Planning topics including Top Estate Planning Devices, The Tennessee Uniform Trust Code, Drafting Health Care Directives, Charitable Trusts, and Estate Administration and Fiduciary Duties. He received his B.S. degree from Southeast Missouri State University graduating summa cum laude and his J. D. from Memphis State University School of Law where he served on the Law Review and received the American Jurisprudence Awards in Decedents Estates, Future Interests and Torts. He is a CPA (inactive status) and a member of the AICPA. He has served as past general counsel of Christian Mission Concerns, Inc., a 501(c) corporation.
For the past 30 plus years, Mr. Maschmeyer has been counseling clients in their estate planning concerns utilizing a variety of tools and techniques of estate planning, but primarily drafting revocable and irrevocable trusts, wills, powers of attorney, HIPPA and FERPA authorizations, business buy-sell agreements and the like, as well as in the administration of Trusts and Estates. He is a member of the Memphis Estate Planning Council and has taught continuing Ed college courses at night in estate planning. Additionally, a substantial part of his practice continues to include assisting in administration of estates, both through and outside of the probate process. He has also had the privilege of serving as a substitute judge in the probate court of Shelby County.
Tom and his wife, Brenda, have two sons, Trip and Luke. They enjoy church fellowship at First Evangelical Church. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, biking, hunting and fishing, and watching the Memphis Tigers, Grizzlies and Cardinal baseball.
